MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula will be possible only on the condition there is no US pressure, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said in a commentary in the daily Kommersant.
In his opinion, "greater independence of countries in making sovereign decisions meeting national interests would facilitate progress towards a settlement over the Korean Peninsula."
For the time being, he said, the dependence of certain countries on Washington hinders the implementation of their own priorities, which is clearly seen in the current situation over the Koran Peninsula.
"I am certain that a lasting peace in the subregion will be possible only on the condition there is no pressure from the United States. Provocations and other destructive steps they take merely breed instability and potentially may bring about an armed clash, which should be avoided by all means," Patrushev said.
